Call For Papers

Since the first AI Conference took place in Sydney in 1987, the series of the annual Australasian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence has become the premier event for Artificial Intelligence researchers in Australasia and one of the major international forums on AI worldwide.

Brisbane is one of the largest cities in Australia and NZ. The Australasian Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence has not been held in Brisbane since 1998. It's time to bring the AJCAI back to Brisbane in 2023 after 25 years. As the capital of Queensland, Brisbane is home to three research-intensive universities with world-leading AI groups including UQ, QUT and Griffith. Brisbane has an extremely active and collaborative R&D ecosystem including many important research and industry players: e.g. leading businesses, government agencies, universities, Data61/CSIRO.

Prospective authors are invited to submit original research and application papers in any area of Artificial Intelligence. Novel theories, algorithms, and applications about 3D Computer Vision, Foundation Models, Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC), and Quantum Machine Learning are highly welcome. The conference topics are, but not limited to, the following

  • Agent-based and multi-agent systems
  • AI applications and innovations
  • Cognitive modelling and computer-human interaction
  • Commonsense reasoning
  • Constraint satisfaction, search, and optimisation
  • Deep Learning
  • Evolutionary computation
  • Explainable AI
  • Fairness, Accountability and Transparency
  • Fuzzy Systems
  • Game playing and interactive entertainment
  • Human-Robot Interaction
  • Information retrieval, integration, and extraction
  • Learning and Reasoning Integration
  • Knowledge acquisition and ontologies
  • Knowledge representation and reasoning
  • Machine learning and data mining
  • Model-based systems
  • Multidisciplinary AI
  • Natural language processing
  • Neural Networks
  • Planning and scheduling
  • Robotics
  • Social Robotics
  • Social choice
  • Uncertainty in AI
  • Web and Information Systems

All papers should be submitted electronically in PDF format and formatted using Springer's manuscript submission guidelines

Submitted papers should not exceed 12 pages (including references). Submissions that are substantially similar to papers that the authors have previously published are not accepted. Submissins should not be under review or submitted for publication elsewhere during the review period. Papers previously presented at workshops are permitted, so long as they did not appear in a conference proceedings, a journal, or a book. Reviews will be double blind; authors must avoid including anything that can be used to identify them. The authors' information, inlcuding the author order, will not be able to be changed after the submission deadline.

The deadline for submitting supplementary materials is the same as the deadline for full paper submissions. We recommend using the same template as the paper for supplementary materials. There is no page limit for supplementary materials.

Each accepted paper requires at least one Full Registration. If you have more than one accepted paper, you have to register for each paper individually.

Submissions will be through the Easychair conference management system at the following URL: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ai2023

All accepted papers submitted to the Conference will be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) series. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register for the conference and to present the paper.
